After years working on sites and building my business i finally decided to treat myself to the ultimate tool, i bought my festool router. You can imagine my utter disappointment when i discover that it can not be used on site as it is not compatible with generators, not just my generator but several of my work colleagues including some very big ones.

I've had all sorts of routers ranging from makita's to trend and ...

this is basically a fixed i.e.no plunge router, comes with 2 bases a horizontal base for trimming edge band and a vertical base

great for trimming edge banding although be careful to put the correct bit in as it can do some serious damage to your breakfast bar you're installing,

whips through your tasks once you've set it up

this is the baby of the festool routers, 1/4 inch or 8mm collet size only, micro depth adjuster but no micro fence adjuster (the fence is included in the base kit) the micro adjuster is an extra £25, not to sad. but it's a bit of a pfaff to operate,

this router is a joy to use, (barring the micro fence adjuster) quiet in operation and it's stopping time is almost instant !

I use ...

I recently went to festool uk headquarters and was trained on how to use the New Festool TS55R Circular Saw,
I have to say it is a magnificent machine... despite its similarity to the standard TS55. for those of you who have not used a TS55 a strongly recommend these over a "normal" circular saw.
There are many reasons why i beleive it to be the best saw on the market... here are a few ...

I have been after a lightweight cordless drill for months and was told by my local Tool Store to consider the new Festool 10.8v drill, I was concerned that 10.8v would be a little underpowered for piloting and screwdriving but got the guy to demo the drill in store and was amazed at what this little tool could do. The power is incredible and puts my 14.4v Makita to shame, the set i bought included ...

I have been using this router alongside my trusty Dewalt DW625 for about 3 years now and must say it is in a totally different league to the Dewalt. The fence adjustment and depth adjustment are far more refined (accurate to 0.1mm) and the power is incredible. When it comes to dust extraction again the festool is easilly the best on the market with the trigger releaseable dust guard you can feed the cutter in ...
