I have an old victorian house with a box gutter at the front. The gutter started dripping yesterday after it had snowed quite heavily. I have never noticed any drips during quite heavy rain so i was wondering if the snow had just melted over the edge. This has got me a little worried and after some research I am planning to paint the box gutter with either isoflex liquid rubber or Flexacryl Roof Repair. ...

Post subject: Damp patches on outside wall Posted: Mon Feb 06, 2012 1:05 pm |

Hi all. I've got 3 damp patches on a gable end wall, all at upstairs and loft level. The guttering, soffits and facia boards were replaced last year, with pvc, so I don't think it's caused by leaking guttering and there are no air vents near the damp patches. One is quite big, 3 foot by 3 foot or so, the other two are smaller. Inside the house, we sometimes get condensation on the windows, ...

Hi all My house is C1900, suspended floorboard with a 3500mm void. The room in question has an external wall to 2 sides, large open fireplace (not used) and a large PVC window and door and the room is central heated by radiator. A while ago i found large amounts of condensation under the floor and changed half of the joists and some boards. I also added a new air brick. Plus I had the ...

I had this problem last winter, cleaned off using strong bleach solution around March time, came back around end of November. Attachment: IMG_3378.JPG Attachment: IMG_3377.JPG Attachment: IMG_3376.JPG The damp problem seems to be limited to the bell cast area of ceiling, you can see damp free areas where wooden joists attach to inner ceiling. I have been told I have insulation in my loft but have ...

Hello guys this marks has appeared over the last month or so and is slowly extending.
Im assuming it is a damp patch coming from the bay window, flat roof. It just seem odd that it is not on the ceiling but half way down the cornice (i think that the right word)
It feels powdery but not wet.

Hi,
My bedroom wall has got increasingly damp/mould over the past 3-4 months, from nothing to the photos shown. It started at one side - looks like water is dripping down the wall, and feels wet to touch, the other side is now looking the same (water dripping). On this side, my wardrobe is against the wall and I recently found mould on some of my shoes and clothes.
It is worse when it rains. ...

Hi,
I've not long moved into my house and noticed the box room was colder than the rest of the house. I've just come back from a week away and there are now water marks coming down the walls.
I had a builder in to quote me for a new roof and to sort out the problem in this box room. However, that was planned for the summer. Now the problem appears to be getting ...
