 Post subject: Boiler losing pressure
PostPosted: Mon Feb 25, 2019 5:15 pm
HI All.

My boiler is losing pressure and need topping up every day.

There is a pool of water outside. I tried repressurising the expansion vessel. Pressure dropped to zero when I let the air out (no water from valve), then back up to 1.5 bar when inflated to .8bar. When the heating ran, the system pressure went up to just under 3 bar.
Next morning, it had dumped again.

Do you think that this ...

PostPosted: Mon Feb 25, 2019 12:24 pm
Hi, trying to understand whats happening with the motorised valves on my CH. Would be very grateful if someone can point me in the right direction (but obviously not to my friendly local plumber just yet)...

Got two valves, as far as I understand it one for downstairs and one for the top two floors. I've had problems with the motor packing in in one of them before (downstairs) so have had to change it ...

Post subject: Replacing old thermostat with Nest Thermostat E
PostPosted: Mon Feb 25, 2019 7:26 am
I’m looking to replace an old Honeywell T6360B thermostat with a Nest Thermostat E but I’m having trouble identifying the C and NO wires needed for the Nest heat link. The attached images show the current wiring for the T6360B and its wiring diagram. Am I right in thinking that position 1 and 3 are C and NO? If that’s the case then the green/yellow wire is not actually an earth but call for heat? ...

Hi, for so long now I've had boiler issues (I've got two!). My boiler loses pressure very quickly. It won't fire up on the timer in the morning, nor will it fire up at 3 ish after its been off since about 11 am. I have to raise the pressure myself. I've had plumbers out before and they've either raised the pressure and fannyed about or changed the diverted valve ...

Post subject: Leak sealer for central heating system.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2019 12:23 am
Hi Everyone
I have a weeping solder joint on a heating system. It's a 15mm Tee joint, that is difficult to get at due to another pipe running over the top of the Tee on the side I believe is the problem.
I am thinking of trying one of the leak sealer products This one to see if it fixes the issue.

My question is
if I need to drain down the system at a ...

Post subject: Alpha CD28C Temperature Sensor neon B flashing.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2019 9:40 pm
Hi all,

My son has the above boiler, it will run for 10secs then shut down in CH or DHW mode. The red lamp B flashes which indicates a temperature fault. The boiler has to be re-set to run again. The pump starts and the burner lights, but the burner indicator does not light in amber.

All this has started since a plumber attended a leak on the seasonality valve and the diverter valves. The ...

Post subject: Orientation of Grundfos UPS2 pump ?
PostPosted: Wed Feb 20, 2019 10:12 am
I'm replacing a seizing/noisy UPS2 pump and with the higgly piggly pipe layout thinking of repositioning and tidying up the arrangement a bit.
Not sure if the pump was correctly fitted with horizontal flow from left to right originally ?
I think these are normally fitted with vertical flow from bottom to top and wonder also if they can be orientated the other way up so the flow is downward from top to bottom orientation ...
