Post subject: Valiant EcoMax pro fault F05
PostPosted: Thu Mar 14, 2019 6:46 pm
We had an interruption to our cold water supply and power. Just for an hour or so, then next morning our central heating came on but no hot water it wouldn’t fire up. Couldn’t get a plumber for a week, so used the immersion for a week. Then one week later fault f05 showed and heating and water turned off. Plumber changed the valve which changes from hot water to heating. This didn’t work so ...

Post subject: Danfoss RMT 230 replacement
PostPosted: Wed Mar 13, 2019 4:52 pm
I currently have a RMT230 with wires connected to terminals 4 (black), 1(Brown) and 2(Blue)

Am I correct in saying, having bought the RET1000MS as reccomended by Danfoss that the wiring should be N (Black), L (Brown) and 2 (Blue).

I have tried asking Danfoss support but they don't respond to the e-mails.

Thanks if anyone can help.

Post subject: intergas eco rf 24 versus intergas xtreme 24
PostPosted: Sat Mar 09, 2019 10:38 am
hi there,

about to have a new boiler installed. Current one is about 25 years old and isn't condensing. I've already had a plumber around and we decided on the intergas eco rf 24 as being a good option.

However I've just learnt that there's a new Xtreme version out. Any idea which is better? Most concerning for me is noise levels as it's in a bedroom cupboard (modulation?). Also the warranties are important to ...

Post subject: HIVE 2 - Remove old Thermostat
PostPosted: Fri Mar 08, 2019 8:48 am
Hi all,

Ok so I went for HIVE but self-install. Was relatively very easy and straight-forward (or so I thought!).

I installed the hub, the dual receiver great fired up hot water working fine. Central heating hmmm ok.... :?

Next step thermostat...ok so I have a wired thermostat and need to make it redundant, but really stuck and wondering if anyone would be kind enough to guide ...

Post subject: Add on fan assistance for radiators?
PostPosted: Thu Mar 07, 2019 4:33 pm
I have found a number of makes and models of fans mounted both on top and underneath existing radiators, I have got a Myson fan assisted radiator and it works well, but unlike normal radiators there are no lock shield valves or TRV's the water has free passage and output is controlled by fan speed and switching fan off/on, it also will not activate fan until radiator is warm, main advantage it is very small ...

Post subject: Leaking boiler and private landlords...
PostPosted: Mon Mar 04, 2019 12:30 am
Hello all.

So our boiler began leaking on the 10th February. British Gas said "yep, new boiler".

First question;
So it's almost been a month. The leaking has slowed down. Why has it slowed?

Second question;
Is it dangerous?

The boiler is old. British Gas can't get parts and our landlord is due on for a big holiday this year so obviously doesn't want to pay out for a new boiler and instead wants to ...

 Post subject: Zoned Motorised Valves
PostPosted: Sun Mar 03, 2019 7:02 pm
Hi, first time poster, any advice appreciated.
I have a problem with the CH, which is zoned, upstairs and downstairs, which has a programmer for each zone.
The problem is the upstairs central heating will not turn off. The only way previously to turn it off, has been to turn the boiler off at the plug.
So I searched the problem, and a common fault seems to be the motorised valves. So i looked at ...

 Post subject: System boiler question
PostPosted: Sun Mar 03, 2019 3:56 pm
Hi all, your advice would be appreciated.

I'm sure you'll sympathise with my predicament. I'm funding a central heating upgrade of my daughter's chalet bungalow and can only afford to do this in stages. I've done some research and I'm looking to invest in a system boiler - probably a Worcester Bosch. The reason for choosing a WB product is because my daughter has a maintenance contract with British Gas and they 'appear' to support ...

 Post subject: Oil smells .
PostPosted: Sun Mar 03, 2019 12:59 pm
We have an external flue fitted which is about 2m high from the boiler flue outlet which is 1m from ground level. This was changed from the normal cage/cover as we had a new tank installed and was too close for building regs. Ever since this change the utility room often smells of oil. Inside there was pipework fitted to the soil stack for waste?? I have disconnected the flue outside and there is an ...

Post subject: Intergas HRE 28/24 loud vibration / noise
PostPosted: Sat Mar 02, 2019 4:05 pm
First, apologies if this topic has already been covered by another post. I’m new to this forum and can’t find anything that seems to apply.

I have a 8 year old Intergas HRE 28/24. A few months ago a loud vibrating noise started that appeared to be coming from the boiler. The frequency of the noise seems to have increased to the point that it’s now happening on and off all day.

The noise can ...
