Post subject: Heatslave 12/18 hot water pressure dropping upstairs
PostPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2018 11:10 am
Hi total newbie here, dont know the first thing about heating or boilers.

We live in an old farmhouse with a Greenstar Heatslave 12/18 boiler which was installed in 2016.

We have noticed over the last six months or so that the shower upstairs runs hot for a few minutes then the hot water pressure drops so the tap has to be turned further. It drops again, so to prevent hyperthermia turn the tap more. ...

Post subject: Radiators hot upstairs, stone cold downstairs
PostPosted: Wed Mar 14, 2018 11:20 pm
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice on my central heating. We moved into a house with an 'Exclusive ProCombi 24' boiler about a year ago, and it's been working well up until 2 days ago. Some radiators were warm rather than hot, so we bled the radiators. This caused the pressure to drop, so we upped it to 1 and a half where we believe it shold be. However we noticed then the following ...

Post subject: Major blockage - calling all central heating experts!
PostPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2018 10:44 pm
Hi all,
we recently bought what I thought was my dream house but it's quickly turning into a nightmare. Please bear with me,

Wilcon 4 bed detached house, built around 1996 with 10mm microbore pipes.
The boiler is a 40kw Baxi Duo-tec Combi and the pump is new.
we have 11 radiators in total, 4 of which don't work at all, 2 barely.

I called a plumber/heating engineer out to check the system. He replaced ...

 Post subject: Rotten Egg!
PostPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2018 6:51 pm
Hi, I'm new here and wondered if I could get some advice.

My partner and I bought our first home back in Oct 17 and over the past few months have noticed a really bad rotten egg smell coming from the bathroom radiator. You can smell it downstairs, it's so strong.

A bit of background; it's a victorian terrace and ex-rental and was in pretty bad shape when we bought it - the drains were ...

Post subject: Rad bleed valve problems
PostPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2018 8:17 am
A few years ago I replaced some old bleed valves. The new ones were straight thread with an O-ring. Been fine up until this winter when a couple of them have started weeping just a tiny bit causing the usual crusty buildup.

Looking at them it seems the o-rings are cracking and since the threads aren't tapered I am guessing this where the water is seeping through.

It's not a massive problem, I am going ...

 Post subject: Combi Boiler Recommendations
PostPosted: Mon Mar 12, 2018 4:20 pm
Hi all,
The pressure from my hot taps is significantly lower than my cold taps. Spoke to a heat engineer who said it's probably the heat exchanger. My boiler is old (Modena 80e - last serviced '2005' according to the sticker on it).
It's looking like the cost to fix it is going to be a lot so I'm considering just going all out and taking the hit and getting a new boiler.

Looking for ...
