Here's a guide I prepared earlier

How to lay a new turf lawn

Most important thing in this warm weather is to keep it well watered once laid.

After rotavating I made my garden level by buying two packs of 10 bamboo sticks from the garden centre (about £7 in total but I've since seen packs in the 99p shop). I borrowed a 2.4m metal straightedge and spaced the sticks just under this distance apart in a grid format. I placed one end of the straightedge on one stick and the other end on the next stick, and made the sticks level by knocking one further down or bringing it up. I then moved from one stick to the other repeating this until all sticks were roughly level. I then marked each stick the same distance from the top and moved the soil around within each 2.4sqm sub-grid I'd created ensuring the soil was level with the mark on all four sticks. I moved around the remaining sub-grids doing the same until the whole garden was level with the marks on the sticks. Doing this ensured the garden was level because all the sticks were level with each other and the marks were the same distance from the top.

One thing to remember though, don't water it in the sun else you'll scald the newly laid delicate turf.
Water it in the evening when it's cooler.
