Hi, I am new to this forum and new to plastering.

I am wanting to start doing a few small jobs but dont really know how much I should be charghing. I have been told the usual rate is £150-£200 a day but I dont know if this is too much with me not having years of experiance behind me.

I am working in the sunny Leeds area

any advice would be great.

Welcome to the forum! I'm still pretty new to this plastering lark too...I've found this forum to be brilliant in terms of the advice I have been given during the last 2 years. I have recently been doing some work for a local firm in the Sheffield area and the going rate was £120 per day. Some of the lads were on £150 but they were seasoned pro's and a damn sight faster than me. I was more than happy with the £120 I was getting though and it was great to work with the pro's and pick up some more tips etc.

Good luck with it mate. :thumbright:

Hi,

Not a plasterer myself, however with day rates you are in danger of asking too much too soon, like you said the seasoned pro's were getting a good rate but the extra money was for a reason, i.e. speed and finish. This will come with time and the way I see it your better off getting £120 a day than nowt, afterall if you do a decent job you will start to build your reputation and demand for your services - which means more work, more practice and with time (and sometimes sooner than you think) a better rate. Good luck
