Hi,

i have recently had a room and ceiling plastered. Now where the really bad crack were originally the plasterer has scrimmed. He didnt however scrim where the plasterboard join each other, as the ceiling was originally artexed. Hairline cracks are now appearing at these points.

I have spoke with the plaster he said he could re-skim the ceiling and apply srim to the areas the cracks have appeared in, but he feel there could be another plasterboard join somewhere in the room. i can not get above the ceiling to find out.

Should i wait a few weeks and see, or just get him to reskim now. Alternatively should i just fill the harline cracks myself and paint and suck a see. The problem is i could do with getting this room finished. Please advise.

Not sure how you expect a plasterer to see where a join is unless the crack was there already. I would easifill in a couple of weeks and see if it re-opens

strange though that there was no cracks in those locations on the artex but now there in on the newly completed plaster.

That may be why it was artexed. I think Artex is more flexible than multifinish, hence why it often hides a multitude of problems.
