We're planning to get a dormer put onto our bungalow either later this year or early next year.

One problem I've spotted is that the phone line going to next door comes from a pole beside our house and runs across the front of our roof to a mounting on next doors fascia - passing straight through the space where our front dormer will go.

There is another pole directly across the road and if next doors wire were to come from there instead it would cause no problems to our build.

Anyone know what the procedure or likely cost is going to be to get this sorted out?

Not sure BT have the 'right' to take a cable across your property so perhaps asking them to move it because of your very reasons should be sufficient for them to do something about it?

That was kind of what I thought, but if possible I'd like to have chapter and verse ready to quote at them when I contact them.

And is this going to one for Openreach, or for whoever my neighbour gets their phone bill from?

it happens in hundred and thousands off locations to millions off houses so they must have blanket clearance to most houses :dunno:
so wouldn't automatically expect an easy cheap journey :dunno:
in here apparently
