We have had the council out to try and sort out our front door as it is letting in water and it's very drafty but all the council does is just put more sealant on but it's still leaking so as i have a tits full of them i'm going to try and do it myself but i was wondering what frame sealant is best to use and where do you buy it from as the sheds around me are expensive and also what is best to fill the gap between the wall and door frame. The first picture the rain is getting in under the piece of wood and where the door frame touches the wood.
Image
The second picture is what they used to cover the gap between the wall and frame and if the sealant lets any water behind it goes straight in to the house.
Image
The third picture is where i pulled away some of the plastic cover to see a nice hole and if i put my had through the hole i can touch the piece of plactic on the outside.

Close up pics are nice but you need full door pics as well.

you need to find exactly where the leak is

does the plastic door frame have a bottom leg!!
in otherwords does the plastic extend accross behind the wooden step outside!!

It looks like the rain is coming under between the board and step and also where the rain strip is on the board it is coming under the strip and also when the rain runs down the door it runs in to the strip and runs out the end on to the board and then in the house and where the door frame rests on the board the rain is going under the door frame.

I don't know what 7 degree is but i put a level on the board and the middle of the bubble is on the line so it has got a slope on the board but not enough as the rain holds on the board.

The drip strip is attatched to the board and the board is attached to the step with one screw so if you kick the board it moves.

Attatch the drip strip to your door then seal so nothing can go down behind it that should help keep the water out

It is attached to the door in the pic I'm looking at.

Personally looking at the state of it I would be on the phone every day till they take the door out and fit it properly.

I agree with Scruff....did they use toothpaste for sealer, becuase its not been smoother or titied, that bubbles surface will prevent water runoff.

Plus whoever fitter the door frame should of taken it back to the brickwork behind the shingle/ You can't expect a wateright seal against that. ANY temperature change or movement means your shingle and sealant could seperate.

OR quick possible there are cracks in the shingle and no amount of sealant on frame edges will prevent water getting behind the shingle into the doorframe, running down and into the house.

have you got laminate inside the front door!!

if so tell them youve been advised that the excessive amount off water getting under the door will damage the flooring beyond repair
