The council have fitted a new kitchen and they have got a flooring company to come out and level the concrete floor but they was going to put the leveling compound over the tiles that are already down but as there is two lots of tiles i thought i would remove them before they level the floor. I started to remove the tiles and noticed that between the floor and tile the floor was soaking wet so when i removed the rest of the tiles there was water under every tile. So as i cannot find any leaks i was wondering if i have got rising damp. I will tell the people that is going to level the floor that i had water under the tiles but i was wondering what should they do as i think they will just put the leveling compound down.

If the floor is soaking wet, it is probably not damp but may be caused by a leak.

Rising damp is normally just damp, and not actually wet!

You will have to see if improves when the tiles are removed.

Thanks for your reply :thumbleft: When i got up this morning it was raining so i checked the floor before i went out and it was a light grey, so when i got back i thought i would check the floor as it has been raining all day, when i checked it was a darker grey and it looks like rain is coming under the back door.

In which case itwould be wise of your Council to sort out the door problem before levelling the floor.....
