Has anyone any idea what this is? I bought it from a Charity Shop for 49p because I was intrigued and nobody knew what it was! Its about the size of a potato peeler or apple corer so I wondered if it was a kitchen gadget?? There isn't anything written on it except Made in China. It also has a reset button.

I absolutely love gadgets, and I can't think for the life of me what this could possibly be. After all the responses so far I'm thoroughly intrigued. The closest I could imagine is it's some kind of device to measure current. Does the central metal fitting rotate at all or is it fixed?
