I have just moved in to my new house, the people before me was going to get the walls plastered but didnt in the end. They painted some stuff on wall before the plaster went on, have been told its a mix of sand and glue ( i know nothing about plastering!!). i cant afford to get walls plastered so will need to get this stuff off walls, was wondering if anyone knows the best way to get it off? Thank you Naomi

It sounds like it could be sand and PVA, if it is you will be able to wash it off using warm soapy water.

If it does not wash off they might of used external PVA, which will not wash off with water!

Is it green or pink in colour? If it is it's Bond-it or WBA and it'll probably be cheaper to get the walls plastered than try and get it off cos it sticks like the proverbial to a blanket.

You say the people before you were supposed to get the walls plastered. Was that an agreed part of the sale?

If so, I'd be talking to your solicitor with a view to getting the sellers to pay for a plasterer to do the job for you.
