I bought a Petrol mower from Great Mill's as they were known then and the body has rusted out(lack of care on my part) I have had it repaired by a mate from work, the question is are there any manufacturer's of fibre glass mower body's,or will it be a question of buy a new one when it gets worse.

Have a look in Gardening section and post started 5th Jul post by Laird "Lawn and Lawn Mower" if you can stand an electric model!

No decent, heavyish duty mower that I am aware of has a plastic body. You can get mowers with aluminium bodies instead of steel. These last longer before rusting away but also cost quite a lot more.
I hammer my mowers, on average cutting maybe an acre or more a week during the season (I cut lots of other peoples lawns for them as well as my own and also use then for hoovering up hedge cuttings etc.). All the mowers I have bought new in the past have died from rust after 6 to 10 years use. However I still think I get a better deal buying one every 6 to 10 years at around £300 - £400 than buying an aluminium decked one every 12 to 15 years at £450 - £600 that may then die from engine failure or other faults before the deck rusts away. Though I can weld and will patch up a steel deck to get a few more years use out of a mower that is otherwise in GWO.
