I have a bathroom mirror with a light above it. The light is switched on/off by just touching a mirror screw type thing near the bottom of the mirror. I assume it depends on some static discharge to switch on the light. It has now stopped working and I think it is to do with the static/mains switch which I assume is the small plastic box behind the mirror. My question is, can I buy a replacement for this and if so what is it called?

Generally they are specific to the mirror/light. unless you can find the manufacturers details it's unlikely that a repair is possible.

It's either capacitance or resistance not static that operates the switch, so without further information its not possible to say, (Get it wrong and it will not work) your best option would be to ask at / who / where you purchased the mirror from if they supply spares.
