Hi
Moved into a house. The problem i have is the hot water tap in the kitchen has next to no pressure coming from it.
The rest of the hot water taps are fine. I checked the shut off valve under the sink and that works correctly.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Mike

Give us a few clues...do you have stored hot water or a combi boiler..Mixer tap or seperate..do you have a kink in the flexis to the tap or are the tails copper??

Hi
Its a stored hot water system. All the other taps upstairs and down are ok.
There is a hot water connection for a dishwasher which is coming from the same feed
which is the same as the tap in the kitchen.

It could just be small bore tails on a cheap mixer tap.

 That's not right for a start..modern dishwashers only require a cold fill..depending on your tap it could be a washer or ceramic disc problem..

Any chance of a pic of the pipework to the tap and the tap in question ?

As AYJaY has said could just be microbore tails..

Please then bear in mind that the hot supply will be low pressure....(IE from stored hot water) And the cold will very likely (99.99%) from the main..make sure the tap is suitable for high/low pressure...

If its a screw down tap (not a 1/4 turn) try this
Turn the tap on then pull the tap top upwards if the supply inproves a small spring clip will have come off the groove in the spindle below the tap top

Sounds to me you have chosen a high pressure mixer tap instead of a low pressure one. On the fitting instructions that came with the taps does it say anything about low/high pressure requirements?

Hi Guys
Thanks for all the posts.I believe it has nothing to do with the tap.
When changing the tap i opened the shut off valve, which is just before
the connection for the flex hose. The water just dripped out.
I thought it could be an air lock so i connected a washing machine hose between
the cold and hot connectors(the hot is on the same pipe as the tap).Turned on the cold and opened the hot,
left it whilst checking the overflow pipes outside, still no joy.
There is another shut off valve between the dishwasher/washing machine hot connector and the pipe leading upstairs.
It does stop the dripping when turned, but i dont know whether it fully opens.
There is a loft hatch above the kitchen which the pipes run through and the hot pipe is cold.
so is the blockage upstairs?

Is the other shut off valve a 'gate valve (red top)' as these can sometimes seize up and be left only slightly open.

No not a gate valve,a compression fitting both ends with a flat head screw to turn the valve on/off.
