Has anyone else noticed or experienced that power tools are generally not lasting as well as they used to?
I've issues with belle mixers, (lightweight) breakers, dehumidifiers, transformers & even 110v leads.
And no I am not bying particularly cheap. _________________ Building Materials Sourcing

I wouldn't know without checking, but one is a purpose lightweight breaker, another a drill/breaker and another a heavy breaker.
What is galling me is: quality tools used to last a good 2/5 years with fairly heavy regular use, now: yes you get the warranty year but 2/5years just doesn't happen.
Whilst I understand the need for built in obsolesence it doesn't sit well! _________________ Building Materials Sourcing

Have you not considered Bosch professional?
They come with a three year warranty with most professional models. _________________ DIY | DIY Video |

My point was less about specific tools rather than the fact that they don't seem to last as long as they used to.
Once upon a time I would still have various tools years later and no sign of letting up, whereas now i appear to have to replace them far more often. _________________ Building Materials Sourcing

Does that tend to be the case where makers get a reputation for good kit and their customers just keep buying their stuff. Then they think they have a captive audience and cut corners to make money and the quality suffers. _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

hoovie,
belle would be the prime example of that.
maybe they were over engineered to start with but now, crap like the rest.
I want to turn a mixer on at 8am and know that it will run until the end of the day, and to do that everyday. _________________ Building Materials Sourcing

I believe that power tols are made to not last these day. basically they are throw aways.
I have had 2no. Dewalt drills in 3 years which previously lasted me 6 years. |
