Now I'm no expert but I think the solution is to remove the two screws, rotate the handle 180 degrees then refit........right?

hehe , I reckon the door lock is not installed properly if the internal handle is not parallel with the external one , am I wrong ?

Yes your wrong its a split spindle set up and the holes go all the way through the lock for use either side.
