I want to fit a lock to our new garden gate as we will be using the rear door in the garden for acess to the house mainly due to the fact that door is nearest to the garage and drive. I am not sure what lock to get so that I can lock and unlock from both sides and where to get it from. Any help appreciated.

:dunno: Type of lock would be determined by the type of gate...pics would speak a thousand words here, or at the very least, how is the gate constructed??

If you remove the latch you could fit a mortice lock,a night latch or even a rim lock.

Will give this a go at the weekend and hope for the best as I'm a total newbie at DIY. Will the lock come with some kind of inscructions. Also is the a way of making the bit that the lock locks in too more secure to the gate post than just the two screws. Cheers

At the end of the day its a garden gate so you arent going to make it really secure unless you use a padlock and hasp.
