Hi again,
I've got two grey walls which have been patched up with pink plaster and some kind of white and pink paints around the edges. The landlord said that these are the original cement walls (I hear that my flat was built in the Sixties). Do I need to have them skimmed before putting up lining paper and painting it?
Thanks in advance

Bear in mind that older plaster may be grey in colour. My walls are from the sixties and they are grey, and the surface is not as smooth as modern pink plaster. I have no idea if your photo shows grey plaster. But I think your photo shows a wall plug that has been filled, not a screw.

Yes, one of the other holes appears to have a screw in it which I shall probably drill out because knowing my luck I will probably run into it when I want to attach something to the wall. I took this photo because this is the only place where I can see small brown stones just below the surface, which might give a clue to what it is.
I don't mind the plaster being old, as long as I can get paper stuck to it and move on to the painting.
Thanks

Drill it out and then fill with your choice of filler..

That wall is solid concrete topped with cement. The screw broke, so half of it is still embedded. My masonry bits weren't strong enough to drill it, so I've filled over it.

Thanks guys.
