They only draw 1.5w . |
So why does the spec say "max 12±0.1W"?

ok, its 1.2w............its got 12 x 0.1 leds which are concentrated onto a funky looking reflector which then throws the light out
for only a 1.2w draw, its amazingly good _________________ Go on, adopt a greyhound http://www.dgrescue.org.uk/ ..........................................................................

Picking up on Stods comment HM - the specs state
"230V 50Hz. H x Dia. 176 x 76mm, extension 143mm. 12 LED max 12±0.1W.
"
So that really IS 12 watts. Do you mean 1.2 watts per LED? in which case agreed (ish)
A few things about these low watt lamps LED's included HM -
They don't work with the average dusk to dawn sensor and they don't work with most dimmers either because most dimmers and sensors have a minimum holding current and these low energy lamps are well below this minimum.
If you try to circumvent the minimum holding current problem with a dimmer and say fit a single GU10 on the circuit the LED lamps will last about 2 weeks then they will blacken and die. _________________ Never lie - that way you don't have to remember what you said. |

balls not as good as i thought ..........and why its better than i thought it would be
looks really nice though
So, all i have done is change the horrible light units i had with nicer ones, and not saved any energy
they appear to work with the dusk till dawn sensor fine...........dont get why it wouldnt? I understand the dimmer not working, but not why the dusk/dawn wouldnt work. Just got one lamp connected to a dusk/dawn in back garden, so is drawing very little. Must just be ok with it (a bnq special ) _________________ Go on, adopt a greyhound http://www.dgrescue.org.uk/ ..........................................................................

Does the package quote the lumen output HM?
If it doesn't, then Screwfix is not complying with The Energy Information (Lamps) Regulations 1999, SI 1517.

looked at the light, box and instructions, and there is nothing on them to say the lumen output or the watts of the unit.
Have e mailed then so they can confirm the watts......... _________________ Go on, adopt a greyhound http://www.dgrescue.org.uk/ .......................................................................... |

The reason it works with the dusk > dawn sensor HM is, probably, due to the sensor using a relay to switch the load rather than a triac/scr (which is why most dimmers have problems with low energy loads as they tend use triacs). _________________ Never lie - that way you don't have to remember what you said. |

sfd emailed back and say then need to look into this further. He did say that 1.2 watts sounds correct, and I cant find any 12 watt led lights (ie 1 watt x 12 clusters) _________________ Go on, adopt a greyhound http://www.dgrescue.org.uk/ .......................................................................... |
