Hi,

We have carried out some work on the underground sewer pipes at the back of our hose and the rain water 110mm pipe is now exposed. We have very poor drainage in the back of the garden and I would like to take this opportunity to connect up a land drain while the pipes are exposed.

I beleive that it would be prudent to have a silt trap and some means of getting a rod into the land drain pipe.

The land drain that I can get is a plastic corrugated pipe with small slots for the water entry.

Do I wrap this with a fabric to keep silt out?

Will a Gully with a side entry suffice for a silt trap?

What slope should the land drain be at?

I have searched the internet for suggestions and details without success, I would be obliged if anyone who has knowledge of useful websites they could provide me with an address.

Many thanks,

Peter
