He should have put a grommet around the cable where it comes out of the wall, otherwise it will chafe the insulation.

| when my electrician replaced our sockets I noticed that he didn't use grommets anywhere ie. where the wire goes through the metal box in the wall. Will this be a problem? |

Yes that is really bad practice!
