Could be the iron /bracket.

TBH, I would take the stat and shift it so they can see each other, that way you can test for a sighting problem or stat/reciever problem.

I have done that. Thanks. The British Gas man has just been. He said the most bizarre thing ever to have affected a wireless system was a goldfish bowl. The answer was to move the goldfish bowl by about 18 inches, and that solved the problem! Let's see how I get on this week.

When it does not start, green light is not on, but the red one is sometimes on, steady. Not always.

Some good news, I think. Thanks to the forum and the gas Man and maybe my wife.

My wife glared at the system and was very CROSS on the cold mornings.

I moved the metal thing which holds the iron when it is not in use. Moved it well away from the receiver (It was next to it).

Also, I moved the transmitter further away, and about the same height, approx 15 feet away. Through 2 doors now.

Fingers crossed, it has worked on three occasions now, so maybe that combination has solved the problem. Probably the metal thing next to the receiver. (Not sure what you call it, younput a hot iron into it uprght for storage)

Thanks for help.
PS the Gas Man said that another bizarre solution was to move a mirror. The mirror had caused the wireless doo-dah to work sporadically in one house.
