|

| Can you get joist hangers for box lintels? I would like to carry on the ceiling line on this project, box lintels were specified for the openings. I know the easiest thing to do is push the box lintels up under the joists but that will give the obvious break in ceiling line. If there were a joist hanger I could push the lintels up further and hang the joists to get a straight through ceiling line. All help appreciated.. Thanks |

| Thanks, would perhaps have been easier but box lintels were spec'd. by engineer and have already been bought. |

What's the span of the lintel?
Could be worth getting a fabricator on site to weld a lip/plates or U section on to the lintel to take the joists?
Speak to your Structural Engineer and he'll help. _________________ Jaeger.

Site welding purpose made brackets maybe an option, although it depends on your se.
Some dont like welding to lintels, especially if its a catnic type rather than a piece of RHS welded to a flat.
If you can go down this route, although it may seem expensive, dont be tempted to get a mate from the pub to do it with is cosmo welder- Unless hes completly competent. _________________ Why isn't the number 11 pronounced onety one? |

I suppose a lot depends on where you're up to?
If the lintels not gone in, fabricate some saddle bag style hangers to accept the joints.
Again you need to speak to your Structural Engineer.
The cost shouldn't b too much considering the result and the fabricator won't be on site. _________________ Jaeger.
