internet works but phones dead

internet aol via bt line

internet via netgear wirless router [hard wired to computer ]work a bit patchy compared to normal but working phone dead

disconect all filters' phonesradio phone and the router no connection to the phone wire what so ever
connect 2 different basic phones directly into two different sockets no joy any suggestions!!!!!

Big-all

when you say phones directly into socket, that wil not work on a broadband enabled line. you HAVE to use the ADSL filters at each socket you want to plug a phone into

Have you got another filter you could try - maybe from an old USB ADSL modem kit?

i have tried with every thing disconnected from the phone line then plug in the phone with and without a filter 2 seperate phones on two seperate sockets with and without a filter belt and braces :grin:

interesting your broadband is still working scratch

pretty sure you will always need a ADSL filter between socket and normal phone anyway Wink

Rare, but you may have an "earth calling" line. I experienced this recently. No dial tone but sync on the router.Weird.

get skype, and call them on their 0800 number Thumbright

thanks for all your help they came today at 8.50 found the fault a loose connection in a street box 300yds away Thumbright Thumbright

funny enough i sighned up to skype for interforum chat last week
but hav'nt got a pay call facility yet
