Not sure if this is in the wrong forum, I'm sure a helpful Mod will move it to the appropriate area.

I'm about to install a concealed cistern for a back to the wall toilet. The cistern will be built into the void under a set of stairs so where the bog backs onto the void it will be plasterboarded. As the waste out and water input will be in the void I think it necessary to be able to get to the void so how would I build into the plasterboard an inspection access ?

Can you get access from the back, otherwise you'll need to form a hatch, plywood and spring clips is about the best

Well would think you would not plaster board behind or above the pan but fit a removable panel for access to cistern/pipe work ect

Thanks Scruff/WPM

No access from the other side of the void.

I want to try and make the hatch as invisible as possible. What are the alternatives to pb behind the toilet that don't look to out of place ?

Scruff - Is that thae only option. I'm trying to have the room plastered all round so it will look a little out of place with a piece of wood in the middle of the wall.

Is it possible to make a secret access point.

Will there be top access, a pic or drawing showing the plan may be be good.

Can't you tile the front/top and have a square that clips in.

If it's the back of wall bit, you could use cladding - then you could take it away, should you need to get access.

There are all sorts you can get, in all different colours.

Here is one: http://www.wickes.co.uk/white-ash-effec ... rce=123_74

1) Incorporate a recessed cupboard above the toilet made so that the bottom of it is removable.

2) Incorporate a niche above the toilet and have the shelf part removable for access.

3) Plasterboard wall in sections and each section defined by a shadow bead.

4) Access left open in board and covered with a mirror screwed into place.

5) MDF panel done as in 4.

6) bored now

Good idea to be able to gain access to the flush pipe also.

I can't fit a cupboard above the toilet as that is where the stairs is.

Don't like the cladding and I'd end up have to break it up to get to the pipe work/cistern etc

So I think I will build a frame wide enough for me to squeeze through and board separately and 'shadow bead' - sounds good, no idea what it means

Thanks for your input guys :thumbright:
