Hi All,

After reading good things about these tools I finally ordered meself one, only to discover shortly after there there now exist four in one function impact drivers with torque settings.

My question, is the torque setting for newbies to the impact driver or is it of any use to anyone once accustomed to use without and is there a trade off having an impact driver that will drill/hammerdrill/screwdrive and impact drive?

Thanks

if its an impact driver its function is light drilling and light to heavy screwing
no impact drill is designed for drilling into masonery'
does it have a chuck!!

what actual drill are you talking about !!
i beleive makita do a multi drill but with different heads!!!

the Panasonic
http://www.itslondon.co.uk/pd_PANEY7542 ... llBody.htm
or
Makita

http://www.itslondon.co.uk/pd_MAKBTP140 ... nDrill.htm

Both listed a having percussion drill, I gues wouldn't really use an impact driver for drilling but was more curious about being able to adjust the torque i.e wether it was of any use to anyone?

percussion is hammer action

the clutch is nomaly used in drilling driving mode on low numbers for screws and high numbers for hole cutters and drills

i would not expect the impact or pecussion[hammer]action to work at times where the clutch is engadged
