Now I've put IKEA as the title I can gaurantee that no bloke will read this

Anyway, IKEA have a one day sale on today (Sat 19th) - 21% off EVERYTHING in stock - doesn't apply to web orders. 6am 'till midnight. Also free brekky (well, 'till 8am so thats a useless piece of info) and 21p for hotdogs

Guess where I'm off to today  - I may be some time

I wonder how many road block, riots, injuries or even deaths will be as a result of this sale :cb

I got a text last night from Angie about this.

I have phoned up work to see if I could do an extra shift for free, but they didn't want me :cb

Now it looks like my van has a major mechanical problem and it's going to take me until Midnight to fix it

21% off? 21p hotdogs? I am guessing it is their 21st Birthday

With my local IKEA being a 190 Mile round trip, I 'm passing - but it is a good offer (I like IKEA  )

We got the Ikea family card and so we get the e-mails too. I'd rather not go on a Saturday though it's mad. We're off to the Startrite shoe shop in Ashbourne for school shoes this afternoon, much less stressful.

Just got back.....wasn't actually that bad. Parked without too much bother and it was busy but OK inside.....just a couple of hundred quid lighter.

They were queuing off the main road when we came out so I don't envy any one going now .

At least I've got an excuse to buy a new electric screwdriver but I bet BnQ no longer have the offers on

OMG, its hell on earth. :angryfire:

I had the misfortune of going there approx 8 years ago, couldnt see what the hype was, and as the one near me is on the North Circular, I thought I better buy something, so I bought a flippen cutlery drawer.
Took about 40 mins queing up, then another 20 getting out of the carpark.

Then the other week, a sat, I had to go there, it had to be a cup final day at wembly which I had forgotton about, anyway, went there, bought nothing, as I was cracking up with the shoving and pushing, being knocked in the ankles with pushchairs, trying to follow the arrows, getting lost, it was manic.

Ended up with nothing, couldnt get out cause of all the football traffic, ended up going miles away, in the end I got lost, got home, and collapsed.

I thought the stuff wasnt that good, well TBH, I only glanced at it, as couldnt get near half of it.

It was a nightmare, I vowed 8 years ago I wouldnt go back, but circumstances drove me there, and I definately wont be going back again.

Bobbie,

I went there when it was first built with my ex-boyfriend who bought loads of stuff to furnish his flats (he was a landlord). It was good for that sort of stuff. There are a few things that I want from Ikea but I tend to go at quiet times, minus the children.

Is there a Japanese shopping mall nearby? I seem to remember going there a few times because I lived in Hampstead and it wasn't that far away.

That IKEA used be be my local one - been there lots of times as well as Brent Cross Shopping Centre - just have to check nothing is happening at Wembley first

Louise - you are thinking of the Yaohan Plaza on the Edgeware road about 1-2 miles north of the North Circular.
Japanese supermarket on the ground floor, along with various small oriental shops in the complex and an fantastic "All-you-can-eat" selve-serve oriental buffet restaurant on the first floor.

Funny that IKEA and this place be mentioned in the same thread, as it brings back memories of about 12 years ago .....

I met the later-to-be Mrs Hoovie on a Blind Date in the car park of the Yaohan Plaza and we had our first meal at the restaurant there :thumbright:
And being a practical chap, I didn't know if the date would work out, so to avoid the day possibly being a total waste of time, I remembered to bring some stuff to return to IKEA with me, so my ACTUAL first date with the future Mrs H was really in the returns department at IKEA, North London.

and they say Romance is dead

Oh - and if you want to go back there to the Shopping Centre, better get a wiggle on - they are starting redeveloping it for flats in a month or so

OMG!! What a small World. I was around there about 15 years ago. Wasn't there a Wing Yip oriental supermarket there too? You're not related to a Jewish film director in Cricklewood are you?

The Wing Yip supermarket is in Staples Corner.

Staples corner is actually the 3rd part of my Blind Date

1st - IKEA Returns Dept
2nd - Meal at Zen CX (at jap centre) :tongue8:

3rd - Movie at Cinema in Staples corner :director:

4th - Censored :-P

It is not me who is from the area in fact (I'm a Berkshire Boy) - it is Mrs H and her crowd who are from North London

Like I said "Small World"! I wish we had a Wing Yip round here. Sounds like we've been to the same haunts! :thumbright:
