Cook a meal for myself tonight, just for me.

This opens up all sorts of possibilities, as I don't have to:

a) do somthing wife diet friendly
b) Can eat any kindof meat / fish / animal I choose
c) I can make it so it melts my eyeballs while I eat it (feel bad for gym tomorrow, but that's not technically MY fault)

What is your favorite meal, what would you LOVE to cook but can't or would you just do a takeaway?

Ideally, it would be healthy-ish, but I'm not going to die if it's not!

Over to you all....

Mmmm, I'm liking that! Missis hates steak and I've finally got cooking the perfect one down to a T. Had quite a bit of asparugus in the last couple of weeks, but never get bored of the entertaining wee smell.

I'm liking, I'm liking!

<edit> Hang on, what's GREEN peppercorn sauce? Made or purchased?

Ohhhh Canny....I couldn't touch Irish Stew that come out a can, I just can't. I think I was traumatised as a child when forced to eat a jacket spud with a can of Stagg Minced Beef™. I said, it taste horrible, I'll be sick. I was told to stop being stupid and eat it.

Well, I ate it as instructed and had to leap up with the last fork full, dash outside and threw up the whole meal over a balcony.

Lets just say I'm glad I didn't have to clear THAT up. Worst bit was, even my dad said "looked exactly the same as when it come out the can".

Get some fresh wild mushrooms. Fry in butter. Mix two eggs in a bowl with a dash of milk. Add grated cheese and add the mushrooms. Mix together and empty into a frying pan with a little butter for the best ommlette ever. Cook until brown underneath then toss and cook the other side. Put some hash browns in the oven and cook to death. Shake plenty of salt and pepper and then begin the feast. :-P

green peppercorn sauce made :-)

after cooking the steaks scrape the bottom of the pan to release the brown steak juice. then melt some butter whack in some slightly bruised peppercorns then stir in the cream and some dijon mustard simmer down till hot and really sticky.

(bruise peppercorns lightly with pestle and mortar or back of wooden spoon on a wooden board)

makes for a wonderful creamy rich and peppery steaksauce

I've gone with a big fat sirloin steak, homemade chips, green peas, mushrooms and peppercorn sauce - soz root, just got it in a pack - by the time I finish the call at 6.30 (1 hour 30 long) I'm going to be in zombie mode - so simplicity wins!

Forgot desert though.....keep having dreams about that sticky toffee pudding that good food bloke made, seriously, it could kill you if you ate the lot!!!!!

Mmmmm *nom* *nom* *nom*

I love being single, I can cook anything I want!

Go three course I would, one of the greatest meals I've ever cooked for man time? Steak tartare to start, a delicious paella with some good olive bread and then lemon tart for afters. Coffee and cornish blue, then a big old whisky and a cigar.
I don't always cook gourmet for myself but I was bored and hungry.

Mmmm Steak Tartare! Nice....had that while I was out with a bunch of German lads. Raw egg, lots of spices, fresh spring onion and some beautiful crusty bread and oils! mmmmmmmm

Don't quite know why it looks yellow, must be my rubbish lights....but I'm well and truly stuffed!!!!!

Steak was medium rare, fat was rendered to perfection and it's no way near as oily/wet as it looks - it was the sauce? Who knows....
