For my sins I have joined the one+ Ryobi club, have purchased 18v 2.4ah battery & charger, all is well so far, so then purchased a Ryobi single feed cordless strimmer (getting ready for spring/summer 2012), item duly arrived, but can only turn strimmer off by removing battery, exactly the same when I start the strimmer, as soon as the battery is inserted it starts, the trigger plays no part at all, is there something I can do (I'm quite competent), I know there is a warranty, I have been in touch with company the strimmer was purchased from, and they have sent me all the paperwork & free postage sticker over to Holland (I purchased strimmer in the UK), but to be honest, I feel that with some help I could sort it out, any ideas?, your advice most appreciated.

was it a british site /shop ??
the trouble is you open it you may invalidate the gtee
also grass wont grow with the air temperature below around 10 degrees so it wont grow for a few months

Assuming you bought the item retail? if so the Retailer is responsible for either a refund or replacement under the Sale of goods act.
Just fobbing you off with a return to manufacturer is wholly unacceptable.
