Not really sure whether this query should be here or in the tools section, but here goes.

Using a "crossbow" type pipe bender, I wish to put a bend at a specified distance from the end of the pipe so the right-angle is, for example, exactly two metres from the end of the pipe.
Is there a chart or formula for deciding where to commence the bend for various pipe diameters and dies?

The bender.

Do it a bit on the long side and then trim it down to suit?

half the radius of the former.

Best to make a pattern if you need it exact.

What are you measuring, center to end, or back edge to end.

What are you bending still pipe or conduit.

If you mark a line through the center of the former, the back edge is measured perpendicular to the outside edge of the former. But it's not quite that simple. It should be the center of the former minus half the radius of the bend.

Best to make a template

Or, just make it on the long side and cut it down to size.
