I have moved in to a house that has a combi boiler - it is a sealed system and therefore has no tanks etc. the pressure gauge is low - would this affect its ability to supply hot water through the taps? i get hot water, but it fades to cold fairly quickly.

running a bath will result in a luke warm result as it fades between hot and cold so often.

Yes it will stop the boiler from working if the pressure drops too low, see here for how to top it back up- http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/TOPPING_UP_A_COMBI_BOILER.htm

If it keeps loosing pressure then you have a leak on the central heating somewhere!

It's a good idea to top up the combi to the pressure that your manufacturer recommends and then bleed the radiators and then check the pressure again. If there is lots of air in the radiators the pressure will drop in the combi when you bleed it and it will need topping up again.
