This will probably be the first question of a few.............

Do you have an app on your phone that will / does automatically connect you to a free wifi hot spot? If so which one? (Which app, not which hotspot)

More info

I have a Samsung galaxy s3mini (Phone1) which I really like. Regretfully I accidentally scratched the rear facing camera lens, so after a while I was able to buy a new phone (same model, phone 2) All works well except the wifi.
Phone1 will connect to almost anything it can with no problem and no prompting to do so, and once connected it will stay connected, when it connects a message appears "connected to wifi-with-fon"
It does have the BT app.

Phone2 has the BT app, but often will need prompting to connect.

The only difference (that I can see) is phone 2 has more whistles (no bells though) to which I put down to being the latest version of the android operating system for my phone.

Phone2 has a new simcard (same phone Number)
I have BT broadband so I get free hotspot access.

I got a new simcard to see if it will make any difference, the original simcard was about 4 years old.

Fret not, a forum is a collection of opinions. Above, are mine.

Which is correct? Metre or Meter? Click the link to find out more.

Working on anything electrical? have you got a multi meter? why not? Would you hit a nail with a shoe?

If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Don't use hotspots and don't trust open WiFi, so would never connect to one automatically. Ever.

Arguing with a woman is like reading a Software Licence Agreement.
In the end, you ignore everything and click "I agree".
