Hi all just bought some underfloor heating by elektra. It say in the manual that a 30 mA resiual current protecting device must be installed, Can i connect it to my ring main which is protected by a 30 amp fuse, if so can i connect the t/e cable directly into the controller unit.

Also the ufh cable has two wire;s brown and white, i take it that the brown is the live.

Thanks

gaz

You should be able to conect it via your ring main yes, but it depends where you are planning on installing it as to how you will connect it. you cannot just connect it to the twin and earth directly, you need to have some form of isolator fitted, and as you have said they recommend a 30 Ma RCD protection, this is nothing to do with the rating of the mains fuse, but the rating of the residual curent device RCD. If you have not got one on your fuseboard then i recommend you use an RCD spurunit to provide the suiable means of isolation and protection. As for wiring colour on your UFH i dont know without looking at the instructions, sureley it must say somewhere.
