Currently I have a Warm Air Heating system, about as old as our 4 bedroom house (~ 40 years now), which is not really doing the job anymore.

I'd like to replace the system with a "conventional" Gas Central Heating system - with or without an additional Solar panel. My Girlfriend has got Sutton and East Surrey Water to quote for the job, as her Brother used them to replace his similar system, we are still waiting for the quote to come through, but they reckon it will take 7 working days to complete the job, and we're expecting a quote of around £7000-£9000 (Would this be reasonable??).

The Water company have said that the new boiler cannot go in the location of the old boiler, as it does not have an external wall for them to "flue through" (I think my Girlfriend said), however the location they are suggesting (where our hot water tank currently is) has no external wall either - I guess they can go through the roof though, but if that's the case why can't they put the Boiler in the old location - the old one must be "flued" too...

I'd like to get at least a couple of additional quotes, can anybody recommend a good firm that could do this work... I live in Coulsdon, Surrey....

<Cheers>

best some more quotes...

I'd estimate between 5-6k for the job.

Sorry cant recommend anyone in surrey.

Are they suggesting a combi boiler? It may not be powerful enough for your hot water deamands so a cylinder system may be better.

Thank you for your swift reply...

Yes they are, I believe, still waiting for quote...

We have 2 Bathrooms, both with Cold Feed Electric Showers, so as long as we can draw one Bath, and get enough Hot Water for Washing up that will be enough.

I will certainly contact John....

Does he have a PM adress on this site?
