Hi - I bought a light fitting similar to this one but have no idea how to hang it. http://www.johnlewis.com/231216643/Product.aspx

The part that fits to the ceiling doesn't appear to have anything you could but a bolt through. Have attached a picture of it to show what I mean. Do I need some additional parts?

Thanks a lot

Looked at the John Lewis site, have you got the fitting the wrong way round as that looks like the lamp shade in your hand and the flex would connect directly to your existing ceiling rose.
If not then does that part screw to the ceiling rose, once you have removed existing cover, if not then the base plate is missing.

Thanks for the reply. It's definitely the right end - you can see the actual shade where the bulb goes lying on the floor in the background.

The part I'm holding doesn't have any thread to speak of so have no idea how it would screw onto anything. It is literally just a round smooth metal edge. I agree there must be a part missing but even if I had a base plate I don't see how it attaches to the part I have in my hand. A mystery!

Might have to take it to the shop.
