Hi All,

I have moved home and removed my kitchen light fitting. I am completely bamboozled with the wiring and was wondering if any kind people here could help me..

It's a German lamp with black, blue and earth wires. I have no idea which wires are live and neutral!

It was quite expensive so i would rather keep it and install it into my new place..

I've attached a picture..

Black to live, blue to neutral; though it will only really matter if the bulbs are Edison Screw...

To explain the point, for the benefit of the OP, since the fitting is almost certainly Edison Screw, the centre contact should be the live one, because it's not going to be nearly so likely that it'll be touched accidentally and while refitting a bulb the exposed part of the bulb thread won't be live if a bulb is changed when the holder is live.

A moment's testing would sort out the matter anyway, quite independent of colours. Connect the wire which connects to the centre contact to the live supply.
