In that case you must have an air lock.

If the washing machine is hot and cold, you could try linking the hose between the two, then turn them on with the hot bath tap open.

You'll need to find a way to force the air out in that case.

Yeah ive done the hand over the kitchen water tap at full pressure with the hot tap on full, ive done this so far 60+ times and it doesnt seem to be shifting at all. Cant really do the hose thingy as the kitchen is a mixer tap and the bathroom is two individual taps.

Taps should have check valves so it's not always possible to do what you are trying, if you have isolating valves you may have to link from there.

If you have a wet vac that can work sometimes.

Well our plumber is going to call in the morning and will hopefully sort it out, just unsure if we should turn the central heating on.

If there is an airlock it could be in the pipe that runs between the cistern and the cylinder in which case backfeeding won't make much difference unless you get someone to put their hand over the end of the ventpipe in the loft

In that case you could put a hose on the cold feed as though you were draining the storage tank/cylinder.

May be an idea to try it anyway.

Ill just leave it for the professional tomorrow, he has all the proper kit.

Central heating wise, best to keep it or turn it on?
