Hi All,

Just wondering what the black substance might be in the attached pics. I took the pics in the single storey rear extension loft of my home. Extension ties into the rear of a 1900 house. Black stuff located on external side of both corner wall of 1900 house at first floor level. Looks a bit like the stuff I have seen used for damp proofing. Would it be anything to do with this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

looks like old bitumen from the old roof line, it could be old underfelt or where some one has done a repair by melting a bitumen stick/bar or cold seal painted on with a brush to seal a leak
