i only had the one set of keys for my nissan micra which have now gone walkies!
luckily new keys are not an urgency so can anyone advise what the cheapest option would be to get the car back on the road
- i have rang a few locksmiths average price being £180
- i have also rang the local nissan parts supplier price being £100 (possibly rising to £150 depending on extent of programming needed)

Have you got remote locking on it? I had a BMW (going back 10 years now) and lost the keys, took my log book and passport down to the main dealer and they cut me a new master key for under £5 (but that wasnt remote locking)

when you say you phoned the local nissan parts supplier - is that a main dealer?

PS I am not even going to do my Nissan Main Dealer joke in a South African accent (so it sounds like Nelson Mendella)

ouch its the immobiliser that will be the problem here.... i think £150 is pricey but the key will need programming, just make sure you have exhausted the search for the keys before you shell out that kinda cash!!

yes the supplier is nissan approved
the guy on the phone mentioned the cost breakdown of approx £40 for a new key/chip & £60 - £100 programming but i need to bring the car down to their garage
one of the emergency locksmiths i spoke to mentioned it would be cheaper for me to open the doors for them as this would take the cost down by approx £60 - so im considering smashing the driver side window which would cost about £15 to replace!
the funny thing is 1 week beforehand i popped into timpsons on the high street & enquired how much for a new key & was quoted £35 but i didn't have the money at the time.....

instead of smashing the drivers window - cant you smash a small triangle type window and lean around then go to the scrap yard for a replacement.
Whatever you do, even smashing the drivers door window and getting it done by the locksmiths is only £75 - cheap option (but make sure you get a spare key!)

might be able to cut the seals out of the quarterlight and pop the glass out instead of smashing it...
