Hi there DIY'ers have quite enjoyed navigating this site, been really useful for me. I have posted a topic on the Lighting section if any sparks could help me out.

I have been training as electrician for 2 years and just passed level two, but occasionally still sometimes have a bit of head scratching especially when it comes to lighting. I am female so have to content with a bit of stick which can sometimes distract me from the job at hand, but generally hold my own.

Hi ewok and welcome to UHM :thumbright:

I had a quick look at your answer, but don't have a clue

There are a couple of really good sparks that come on here and will know for sure, hopefully you won't have to wait too long

It is unusual to see a female sparks and I can imagine that you could get some stick, so good on you for giving it back :thumbright:

Hi ewok,
:thumbright: good for you!

Go girl

Go girl

Go girl

Brings to mind, I was helping my mate who is an electrician (I was mucking for him) we were at an Industrial building he was doing mechanical stuff (he worked for British Rail on trains) and there was a girl Spark doing lighting.

We were walking through one of the corridors and the girl was up a ladder with her head through the suspended ceiling panel. Now you've got to imagine this place was crawling with trades, apprentices and labourers.

As we were passing some guys were cat calling and giving the girl some stick, what happened next I've never ever forgotten and never will. Now this was quite an attractive and well formed young lady!

She took lots of crap and eventually had had enough, so she brings her head down from the ceiling and looks around, silence falls, one smart arse pipes up, she focuses on him, lifts her top, her shirt, her vest and finally her bra, cups her left breast, points at the lad with the gob and then points at her breast.

She said nothing, puts everything back in place and sticks her head back up in the ceiling.

The place just fell about, I remember I was hurting with laughter, the lad didn't know where to look or go. She never got much stick after that and when anyone started they usually got knocked down by her fellow trades.

And this was over 20 years ago, so girls in the trade where even rarer then!

Hello ewok. Welcome to the site. Yes I have heard all that BS when I used to work in the trades. Never could understand why a guy would do or say some thing when they were not in a very good position to say a thing. All they had to do was move this board or that re-bar and that person would of been hurting for weeks.
