Thought I should introduce myself, especially after getting some great advice from DHW members.
DIY-Type Stuff
I spent a few years renovating my 3 Bed Semi in St Albans - 1937 build and just one owner - from new- before me, so as you can imagine, left to deteriorate a fair bit over time.
Work done by me was:
* Complete rewire right from new CU through to sockets - inc CAT 5, Telephone and TV to all rooms.
* Complete replumbing of DHW and lot of CH plumbing - converted from old floor standing Boiler to WB Condensing Combi (cutting edge at the time, I think!)
* Conversion of old bathroom, sep WC and bit of landing into nice big bathroom with sep shower cubicle
* Installation of Kitchen.
* Complete downstairs laying of engineered wood flooring
* Shed built (from kit!) including 12' x 10' concrete base layed
* 140' of Concrete post and wooden Fencing installed (gave myself tendonitus from those bloody post hole cutters :evil: )
Some of the above went great , some of the above didn't go so great
Bought a new (1935!) house in Devon last year and the cycle repeats itself , but now with the advice of the UHM team, I can lower the count and up the number
:grin: :grin: :grin:
Non-DIY Stuff
Maybe I can reciprocate advice a bit? I am an IT person by profession - sort of electrical/electronic engineer initally, but now mix of H/W knowledge and S/W development, so anyone wants to try and sort a problem with Excel macros or scripting, or wants to buy the IT Services Cost Estimation Application I am developing, just let me know!!
Also do a bit of Scuba (handy for my plumbing!)
Cheers for now,
Hoovie aka David. _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
