Hi All

For info I have a Baxi Solo2 60 PF that heats my hot water and radiators.

Connected to this i also have a Heatrae Sadia Mega Flow and some sort of pressurised unit with Zilmet printed on it.

As you may guess I know nothing about plumbing/heating systems.

I have had a continual problem with the boiler stopping working. The boiler would not ignite. i have a contract with a company who came out and on several occasions replaced a PCB. This apepared to fix the problem for a short period of time but the problem (or similar problem) keeps ocurring.

Last week i had them out again. the rads whee bled and the 'pressure' increased in the system. Apparently the system was over heating due to poor flow.

For the past week the boiler has worked fine with both water and rads being heated.

Now the water is not being heated but I hasten to add that the boiler is firing to heat the central heating and is hot !

So, what is up with my hot water (or lack of it) ? Has the pressure dropped again? How do i tell? What should the pressure be and how do I set it? I also 'assume' that if my pressure in the system has again dropped in a week then I may have a leak?

Any advice and or suggestions as to where i may get hold of a baxi Solo 2 60 pf instruction manual would be fantastic.

Cheers

Steve

A pic or two around the cylinder, showing the 3port valve etc would help.

Is there an air vent on the cylinder primary flow.

I also seem to remember reading (somewhere) that it may be an idea to drain the magaflow system - something to do with removing airlocks. Any thoughts?

Pic 0158. That is the 2 port HW zone valve.

I would suspect that either the motor has had it and it is not opening, or the microswitch has gone in the head so not firing the boiler.

If you turn on the ch, does the pipe work to the cylinder get hot? If so it will be the microswitch.

If it doesn't it will be the motor.

The motor can usually be changed but I always replacr the complete head as long as there is a metal 'spot' on the top of the valve cover at one end.

Sorry about the confusing post, but just got in from work and am totally knackered

The valve should be ok as it is connected through the thermal cut-out and nothing will work, or it should be.

In pic 158 is an air vent to the left of the stopcock, turn the pump off and let any air out, I reckon that will do it.

In pic 165 is a red valve, can you tell me if it is nearly closed as it looks like a by-pass valve, a pic showing what it's connected too would be good.

Don't touch the megaflow, unless it passing water through one of the safety valves.

Hi Apologies.
Can you confirm that you did mean pic 158?
Also, apologies for requesting details but I REALLY have no idea what I'm doing but happy to try out your ideas as long as I'm sure of what you are suggesting.

Can you suggest how i should turn the pump off? My initial reaction would be to turn off my boiler which in turn would turn the pump off.

Also, how do I let the air out as you suggest?

I'll post a pic of the connections you ask for asap.

Cheers

Steve

Sorry the air vent is shown in Pic 154 and 153, a pipe sticking up in the air with a screw cap on the top

Can you turn that red valve off, and open it 11/2 turns.

the red valve wants to be open 11/2 turns.

The air vent you just open it to let the air out with the pump off.

ok,

Closed the red valve and then opened it 1.5 turns.

opened the air vent, air was released until water came out of it (like bleeding a radiator) then closed it back off.

noted that the pressure was now at about 0.5 bar.

Can you explain what the red valve does, is there a danger of it being either fully closed or fully open?

I have now put the hot water on ( I take it this would be the next step?)

Cheers

Steve
