Hi , Last night I had to get up at 1.30 in the morning to shut my POTTERTON SUPRIMA up !. It was making a faint roaring noise - But wasnt on . In fact the heating & water had clicked off at 11.30 .
The noise was like a faint rummbling I actually thought the dishwasher was on .
Any ideas why ?
To shut it up I just clicked the power off at the fused spur and it went instantly quiet.
I imagine it was some kind of fan , but last night was very cold and it was 2 hours after the boiler had gone off , so does it actually NEED a fan running constantly & will I nack it by switching it off ????

Maybe look at the motorized valve being stuck and the pump is running continuously.

Cheers scruff - Pardon my ignorance , but where should the indicator on the side of the motorised 3 port valve ( if thats the one you mean ) actually be at 1.30 A.M. when the system is at rest "W-M or H" and do you mean the main C/H pump - the one thats up stairs in the airimg cupboard ?.
THANKS AGAIN.

The 3 port MV will stay in the last position it was at.

You need to check whether the pump in the cupboard turns off after several mins when the heating and hot water is off on the programmer.

I'm outer here in a few minutes for a few days but one of the guys should be around to help.

got to your programmer put the water on only does the pump run straight away, it should

turn the heating on only and it should stop for a couple of seconds and start back up again(make sure your room stat is up)

as the scruff has said does the pump run for a while after the programme has finished or does it continuously run
