Hi,

I have just recently had wall paneling fitted in my hall and I need to prime/paint. The paneling is a mix of timber and MDF (see pic attached).

What's the best for priming and painting both the timber and MDF? I want to get a nice smooth eggshell finish on the paneling and would like something that is tough/durable but also resistant to condensation as my house on occasions is quite humid. (I'll be installing a ventilation system soon to help with this)

I was thinking of applying two coats of Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 on the timber and MDF to prime. Then 2 coats of either Zinsser Perma White Matt or Dulux trade diamond eggshell? Does this sound ok and should I go with Dulux or Zinsser?

The hall is also quite big so I don't want to spend a lot of money on specialist paint if it's not going to make a difference.

Thanks

The bullseye 123 and Permawhite combination is what Zinsser recommend so you can't go far wrong with that.

I'd be tempted to apply two coats of the bullseye though, just to give you a good base for your finish coats because permawhite isn't best known for its opacity.

You could also consider priming and undercoating with johnstones aqua undercoat, which covers really well.
