I want to know where he tied his horse up... (and when he rode away into the sunset, did he raise his hat above his head shouting "Yee Haa."

Hi,

I think he's been framed?

What a truly dire job; I hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction but it looks like only another new door will fix it but installed correctly this time.

Kind regards, Col.

Online reviews are useless. I got some bathroom fitter from CheckATrade aka CheckABodger. They were incompetent, with wall tiles overlapping coving, and applied with cement based addy on plaster without primer. Not surprisingly they almost fell off of their own accord. They fitted a shower at the shallow end of the bath! They had 47 glowing reviews. Eh? How can that be when they were incompetent? They were even on a Trading Standards review site. But TS are useless, overworked, underfunded.

A word of warning. I posted a bad review on CheckABodger. They had it pulled for a month, claiming a death in the family. When it appeared, it had a comment contradicting my review, effectively claiming I had lied. They even contradicted statements they had made in a written letter to me. I showed the letter to CheckABodger. They did not care. In my view CheckABodger are crooks, their clients are the trades, not you.

I had my boiler serviced, turns out he was on CheckABodger. He did not even take the cover off. I had my boiler fitted by a CheckABodger plumber. He used an undersized gas pipe, contraveining regs, and potentially dangerous. And they put pipe sealant into a radiator, against Worcester Bosch advice.

I purposefully avoid review sites. I do what I can myself, such as hanging doors, as good trades are hard to find. I've had some very good ones, none were on review sites.

OK, I'm an "old school" chippie, so please don't ask me to do a bodge job - I didn't bring my horse today and in any case you don't seem to have a hitching rail!

Wow.... this looks like the sort of job i would do which is why i work in the office and not on the tools.

I'd feel embarrassed to charge for it though. Most likely pay the customer for allowing me to 'test' on their home.

Ain't that the truth Phil. I 've missed this thread until now. Its a real shocker ,never seen worse by a "so called tradesman".I honestly believe I could do better as a total novice but more to the point, if that was the result of my efforts (which I 'm pretty sure would not be the case) I'd have made good the situation ,if it meant subbing or whatever .He sounds like a total wrong'un to boot.Unfortunately he's not only one out there :angryfire:
