Hi,

I will be putting down a new drive shortly and am considering this following having done all the ground works already:-

1. Gravel
2. Block paving
3. Tarmac

Tarmac is being ruled out due to the cost £7000 to £8000. The area I am working with is 260 sq mtr.

Block paving is looking the cheapest at about £2800 if I lay it myself (just need to out down grit sand first)..

I have just started looking at gravel again after ruling it out due to the movement and small wheels like bins or bikes going over it and someone pointed me in the direction of the honeycomb stabilisers. I have to say these look great but I have only had one quote from Core Gravel and it was more than I had hoped. I've been struggling to find other suppliers? Therefore could you recommend any suppliers of this for me?

Does the stabiliser need annular gravel or is it still a success with pea gravel?

How much should I expect to pay per bulk bag for an average decorative gravel?

I was hoping to be able to do the stabiliser and gravel for about the same price as the block paving supply. Do you think this is realistic?

Thanks in advance.
Mark

From Core Gravel FAQ page:-

Quote:
We recommend gravel 10mm or below, such as pea gravel or crushed angular gravel, to be used to fill the 38 mm cells. We also have 50mm cells for larger size gravel or aggregates.

Hi,

I am very keen on the gravel stabiliser like "core gravels" but really wanted to see what this is like in the flesh.

Does anyone know any areas that this has been done in and around Leicestershire that I could take a look at?

Thanks
Mark
