Hi everyone,
I,ve always had this dilema about glossing whether if its with satin or gloss.
If i have a surface to gloss, that in the past being primed, undercoated and finished can i give it a quick nib down and go straight over with the topcoat, or would you recomend the method that I,ve been using of nib down, undercoat and then topcoat.
As always would welcome any comments..... |

I would stick with what you have done in the past as the undercoat helps bind the new gloss to the old surface, gloss on gloss can lead to cracking and blistering. _________________ "Where would we be without rules?

Eggshell is self undercoating but gloss isn't - well most aren't. You will get a better finish with gloss over u/coat like Telmay says. Gloss over eggshell is OK....but gloss over gloss can cause problems _________________ www.decoratescotland.com |

Thanks for the help, i thought I was along the right lines but because i,m not a decorater, (i,m a tiler) certain things crop up, and you just need that reassurance from a fellow tradesman, once again thanks for your thoughts, and a big thumbs up for the brilliant site, |
