Been reading about this, I find it quite fascinating. There are various systems, most know are in volcanic regions ie Iceland.
Whats available in the uk utilises solar heat held in the earth, apparently at around 2m depth the soil is typically 10C all year round due to solar heat transfer.
This doesnt sound like alot, but the water heated to 10C is run to a compressor which takes this heat and will easily heat a home and HW cylinder.
All you pay is for the compressor to run and circ pump. The earth loop is 100s of metres in length. so land is beneficial.
The analogy I read was, imagine putting a very hot T spoon into a pint of cold water, the t spoon cools rapidly, the pint of water heats by a neglibible amount.
Reverse above and you are taking a slight heat up in ground loop, to create a very high temp after the compressor. _________________ Stella Stella Stella oy oy oy |
